Some stories begin with a question. Others begin with a bad decision. And some simply begin with something that should never have been there. This second CINEMÁSCORTO screening brings together seven short films where reality begins to bend: survivors searching for shelter, ghosts hiding something more, inheritances that should have stayed unopened, trees with too much to say, and bets where losing could cost far more than money. Seven short films. One cinematic experience on the big screen. What you’ll see: • Apocalipsis – After a coup and a virus contaminating the water, two survivors make their way toward a camp where they hope to find safety. But getting there is another story. • Self Reflections – A self-conscious sister and her supportive brother enter an abandoned manor to cleanse a ghost. What she finds inside may be far more difficult to face than any spirit. • Heirloom – A mysterious box arrives as an inheritance. Inside are secrets, mystery… and something that may never have been meant to pass into anyone else’s hands. • Santiago – Santiago seeks refuge beneath a tree to escape, if only for a moment, from a recent tragedy. Then the tree begins to speak. And it seems to know more than it should. • Mano Negra – Félix agrees to one last game of brisca at the home of a dangerous player. What begins as a bet for money soon becomes a game of deception where every card could be his last. • Silenciados – Emilianys only wanted a quiet weekend in the mountains. But the guests at the Airbnb next door have other plans. After days without sleep, patience reaches its limit… and when the silence finally comes, nothing will ever be the same. • Don Santiago – The year is 2045. Don Santiago sells legal weed alongside his friend Coco El Coquí. So far, everything seems normal. Or as normal as the future can be. One screening. Seven stories you won’t quite know where they’re going.
